Wellness Tips for Winter 2018

THINK VITAMIN D

Vitamin D from the sun helps jump start your body’s natural defenses. But during the colder, shorter days of winter, getting enough vitamin D from the sun is hard. That’s where food becomes important. Try adding fortified low-fat dairy products, whole grain cereals, and fish with healthy fats like salmon or tuna to your plate. On sunny days, pop outside for a little while for a natural dose of the sunshine vitamin. If you’ll be outside for longer periods, don’t forget sunscreen! The skin on your face and hands still needs protection from UV rays during the colder winter months.

Note: Since everyone’s health history and nutritional needs are so different, please make sure that you talk with your doctor and a registered dietitian to get advice about the diet and exercise plan that‘s right for you.
